MARIN CAMFT CONNECTIONS

July Aug Sept 2025

Elizabeth Clark, LMFTPresident's Message

Elizabeth Clark, LMFT

2025 Marin CAMFT President

Hello Marin CAMFT community,

Our recent members survey taught us that DEI means so much more to our members than we had previously imagined. From your responses, I hear that DEI is not just about the color of your skin, or who you love--it's about the hardships associated with being on a fixed income, experiencing a (mental) health crisis that jeopardizes your future, feeling forced into retirement because of your age, staying silent because speaking your truth is dangerous, and many other factors that can make life feel scary and overwhelming.

Every person who responded identified with at least one marginalized demographic, so thank you for your participation in supporting Marin CAMFT's next steps for addressing and prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion in Marin County. It takes a lot of courage and strength to speak up!

Marin CAMFT has been consulting with Stacy Poe-Jamison (Executive Director of Community and Belonging at Dominican University) to better understand our needs in the chapter around inclusivity and belonging. As an organization that is dedicated to becoming a resource for cultural humility, we felt it was important to bring someone in who could guide this process. Stacy will be speaking at our Annual Fall Celebration event on Sunday, October 12th. Please reach out to me at president@marincamft.org if you would like Stacy to address a question or concern during that presentation, or if you would like more information on how to get involved with the Marin CAMFT Inclusivity Committee.

Elizabeth Clark

2025 President, Marin CAMFT

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Marin CAMFT continues our series of hikes with East Bay CAMFT and San Francisco CAMFT with Hike #3 on Saturday, October 4 in San Francisco.

In July, Marin CAMFT joined with its neighbors East Bay and San Francisco for a hike at Tennessee Valley. The day started out cool but the sun came out as the group got to the beach.

A good number of the crew took a detour up to the hillside to take in the amazing view while others enjoyed the beach below. After heading back a handful were able to rejoin to grab a bite at Good Earth in Mill Valley to end the morning building connection in community with one another.
